Kota Kinabalu: Several computers, office equipment and documents were partly damaged when water leaked from the top floor of the Federal Administrative Complex here, Thursday.
The leak was from the 7th floor of Block A of the complex where the Sabah Federal Secretary Datuk Ismail Wadin’s office is located.
The incident was discovered by one of the staff on entering the office about 6.30am.
“Not only office equipment were damaged but also the carpet as the floor of the office was flooded with one inch of water,” said the worker.
The worker alerted the other staff, including the supervisor of the maintenance of the building, about the leaking floor, who immediately turned off the main water pipe to prevent the water from pouring further.
On hand to inspect the leakage was Ismail who personally supervised his staff to remove computers, documents and other office equipment to prevent further damage.
They suspected that the piping or water tank located on top of the building had leaked.
The RM350 million FAC became an issue when its tiles started falling down just after three months of being occupied.
City Hall had confirmed recently that the complex was still not issued with an occupation certificate.
